The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your DS costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your DS in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your DS inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your DS against the legal APK requirements. You know in advance what the inspection costs.

DS grew out of Citroën and is part of Stellantis. Most of the technology is the same as on Citroën and Peugeot, including the 1.2 PureTech engine. We know it well. The older DS 3 was first called the Citroën DS3.

Popular DS models in the Netherlands

These are the most common DS models in the Netherlands, according to RDW open data. We can do the APK and the servicing on all of them.

Model Number in the Netherlands What we check
DS 7 2,756 On the E-Tense: the brakes and the emissions test of the petrol engine.
DS 3 2,718 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. On the older 1.6 THP: the chain.
DS 4 1,729 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt.
DS 3 Crossback 1,075 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. E-Tense: no emissions test.

What do we check during the APK for your DS?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a DS, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • 1.2 PureTech engine: many DS models have the 1.2 PureTech with a wet timing belt. This is a timing belt that runs in the engine oil. Read more about problems with PureTech engines.
  • Manufacturer’s scheme: according to Autoreview, the Stellantis PureTech scheme also covers DS. Under certain conditions, the scheme applies for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres and is handled by an official dealer. A repair carried out by us is not covered by it.
  • Older DS3 with the 1.6 THP: this turbo engine has a timing chain that can start to rattle. If you hear a rattling noise on a cold start, have it checked.
  • E-Tense: on the DS 7 and DS 4 E-Tense plug-in hybrids, the petrol engine gets an emissions test. The electric DS 3 E-Tense does not get an emissions test. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.

Servicing your DS with us

We service your DS according to the manufacturer’s schedule. We use oil that meets the specified standard. On the 1.2 PureTech this is extra important, because the right oil protects the wet timing belt.

  • Following the DS schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

What inspectors note most often on a DS at the APK

In 2025, Dutch inspection stations carried out 4,464 APK inspections on DS passenger cars. In 39% of those inspections the report shows at least one note: a fail, a repair carried out during the inspection, or an advisory. For all makes together that figure is 51%. These are the five points noted most often on a DS:

  1. Tyre pressure not at the correct value (325 times). Read more about tyre replacement.
  2. Tyre with insufficient tread (259 times). Read more about tyre replacement.
  3. Tyre tread 1.6 to 2.5 mm (close to the legal limit) (240 times). Read more about tyre replacement.
  4. Number plate light not working (properly) or missing (238 times). Read more about car repair.
  5. Dipped headlights incorrectly aimed (186 times). Read more about car repair.

Source: RDW Open Data (inspections and defects recorded by inspection stations, calendar year 2025, passenger cars, light-vehicle APK), processed by Autobedrijf Willemsbrug. The figures show what inspectors record nationwide, not the condition of your car. Tyre pressure, tread depth and lights are things we check during every APK. Do you recognise one of these points on your DS? Call +31 10 479 00 00 or book the APK online.

DS E-Tense

The DS 4 and DS 7 E-Tense plug-in hybrids and the electric DS 3 E-Tense can all come to us for the APK and servicing. An electric DS does not get an emissions test. On a plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine does get an emissions test.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars.

Frequently asked questions about the APK for your DS

No need to click. All the answers are already open below.

Does my DS have a wet timing belt?

That depends on the engine. Most DS models with a 1.2 PureTech petrol engine have one. That includes many DS 3, DS 3 Crossback and DS 4 cars. Newer hybrid versions have a chain. We can look it up for you with your registration number.

Does the PureTech scheme also apply to DS?

Yes. According to Autoreview it does. Under certain conditions, Stellantis covers the costs of early timing belt wear, for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres. This is handled by an approved repairer for the brand.

Is my DS 7 E-Tense a plug-in hybrid for the APK?

Yes. The DS 7 E-Tense is a plug-in hybrid. The APK costs € 50 and the petrol engine gets an emissions test.

How much does an APK for my DS cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol DS, a petrol hybrid or an electric DS, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my DS?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my DS fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is and what the repair costs. If we do the repair, the re-inspection is included. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your DS failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.
