The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Toyota costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Toyota in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

What do we check during the APK for your Toyota?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a Toyota, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • Hybrid: a Toyota hybrid has no clutch and a continuously variable automatic gearbox. For the APK, it counts as a petrol hybrid. The APK costs € 50 and the petrol engine gets an emissions test. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.
  • Aygo: according to Autoblog, the clutch, the water pump and the rear silencer are known weak points on the Aygo, as on the Peugeot 107 and Citroën C1. The rear silencer can rust through. A leaking exhaust means the car fails.
  • Cooling the hybrid battery: on most Toyota hybrids, the hybrid battery is cooled by air, through a vent with a filter inside the car. If that filter fills up with dust, the battery can get too hot. We clean it during a service.
  • Toyota warranty: according to Autozine, Toyota offers an extended warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometres if a Toyota dealer services your car. We want to be clear about that.

If you want to keep the extended Toyota warranty, have your car serviced by a Toyota dealer. You are still welcome to come to us for the APK. Once the warranty has ended, we will be happy to service your Toyota.

Servicing your Toyota with us

We service your Toyota according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with oil and parts that suit your car. On a hybrid, we also check the cooling of the hybrid battery.

  • Following the Toyota schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: the standard manufacturer’s warranty does not automatically end if we service your car, as long as the work follows the Toyota schedule and uses suitable parts. Please note: the extended warranty of up to 10 years only continues if a Toyota dealer services the car.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Toyota hybrids and bZ4X

We can do the APK and servicing on all Toyota hybrids, the RAV4 and Prius plug-in hybrids, and the electric bZ4X. An electric Toyota does not get an emissions test. On a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine does get an emissions test.

Does my Toyota hybrid count as a petrol hybrid for the APK?

Yes. A Toyota hybrid is a petrol hybrid. The APK costs € 50 and the petrol engine gets an emissions test.

Will I lose my Toyota warranty if you service my car?

No. The standard manufacturer’s warranty does not automatically end. According to Autozine, the extended warranty of up to 10 years or 200,000 kilometres only applies if a Toyota dealer services the car. The APK has no effect on the warranty.

What do you check during the APK on an Aygo?

On the Aygo, we pay extra attention to the exhaust and rear silencer, the brakes, the tyres and the lights. The clutch and the water pump are also known weak points. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Toyota?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Toyota fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Toyota failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.

Where are you based and where do your customers come from?

Our workshop is at Boterdiep 11 in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, close to Stadion Feijenoord (De Kuip). Our customers come from all over Rotterdam, including Centrum, Kralingen-Crooswijk, Hillegersberg-Schiebroek, Delfshaven and IJsselmonde, and from Barendrecht, Ridderkerk, Schiedam, Capelle aan den IJssel and Delft. You can park for free in front of the garage if there is space.
