The short answer
At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your American car gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your American car is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.
The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.
If you combine a major service with the APK (MOT), the inspection is free. You drop off your American car Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your American car serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?
We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your American car to the manufacturer’s specification, with parts and oil that suit your car.
American cars are often big and heavy, with a large engine and an automatic gearbox. We have five heavy-duty lifts, including lifts for motorhomes and commercial vehicles up to 3,500 kg. If we do not have a part in stock, we order it from suppliers of American car parts.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your American car?
Many newer American cars have a system that works out for itself how long the engine oil will last. At General Motors, the group behind Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick, this is called the Oil Life Monitoring System. The system also takes your driving style into account. If your car has one, we follow its message and the manufacturer’s schedule.
American manufacturers specify their own type of oil for each engine. General Motors uses oil to the dexos standard for many petrol engines. On an older American car without a service system, we change the oil according to the service book. If there is no service book, we go by the mileage and the age of the oil.
We use your registration number to look up which service your American car needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.

What do we check when servicing your American car?
At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your American car, we also pay extra attention to these points:
Read more about flushing the automatic gearbox and replacing brakes (in Dutch).
How much does a service for your American car cost?
The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.
Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your American car stay valid?
Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
