The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your Chevrolet gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your Chevrolet is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.

The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.

If you combine a major service with the APK (MOT), the inspection is free. You drop off your Chevrolet Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your Chevrolet serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your Chevrolet to the manufacturer’s specifications, with parts and oil that suit your car.

According to Autorai, Chevrolet stopped selling most of its models in Europe at the end of 2015. There are hardly any Chevrolet dealers left, but thousands of Sparks, Matizes and Aveos are still on the road. We know these cars, and we service the American Chevrolets too.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your Chevrolet?

The European Chevrolets, such as the Matiz, Spark, Aveo and Cruze, have a service schedule with an interval in kilometres and a period in months. Many of these cars are now more than ten years old. A yearly service with new oil and a check underneath the car is then a sensible choice, even if you do not drive much.

American Chevrolets, such as the Camaro and Corvette, often have a system that works out for itself when the oil needs changing (Oil Life Monitor). For this, Chevrolet recommends oil with GM dexos approval. We use the oil listed in your car’s owner’s manual.

We use your registration number to look up which service your Chevrolet needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.

Minor or major service for your Chevrolet?

Which service your car needs depends on the model, the engine, the age and the mileage. A minor and a major service usually include the following:

Part Minor service Major service
Engine oil and oil filter Change and replace Change and replace
Fluids Check and top up if needed Check, change the brake fluid if the schedule requires it
Brakes and tyres Check for wear Thorough check, including brake discs and brake pads
Filters Check Replace the air filter and cabin filter according to the schedule
Spark plugs (petrol) Not standard Replace at the manufacturer’s interval
Battery Check Test with a battery tester
Timing belt (if the engine has one) Not standard Check whether the belt is due for replacement at the set interval
APK Book separately Free if you combine it with a major service

What do we check when servicing your Chevrolet?

At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your Chevrolet, we also pay extra attention to these points:

  • No dealer left: for most Chevrolets there is no longer a franchised dealer. We use your registration number to look up the right parts. For most models they are easy to get.
  • Timing belt on the Matiz and Aveo: the 0.8 engine in the Matiz and the 1.6 in the Aveo have a timing belt. If it breaks, the engine can be badly damaged. On the Aveo 1.6, the belt also drives the water pump. We can replace the water pump in the same job, if you wish.
  • Small cars getting older: most Sparks, Matizes and Aveos are now ten years old or more. During the service we check underneath the car for rust on load-bearing parts, brake lines and the exhaust.
  • Diesel with DPF: on a Captiva, Cruze or Orlando with a diesel engine, we check the DPF. If you mainly make short trips, the filter can fill up faster.
  • American Chevrolets: on a Corvette or Camaro we use oil as stated in the owner’s manual. After the service we reset the oil indicator, if our equipment can do this.

Servicing your hybrid or electric Chevrolet

The Volt is a plug-in hybrid. It runs on electricity part of the time and also has a petrol engine. That engine gets oil and filters according to the schedule, even if it runs very little. We also check the brakes, brake fluid, tyres and battery cooling.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they are trained to work safely on the high-voltage systems of hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

How much does a service for your Chevrolet cost?

The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.

  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give your registration number and mileage. We tell you straight away what the service costs, including VAT.
  • You can also drop in: visit our workshop at Boterdiep 11. We look at your Chevrolet and tell you on the spot what the service costs.
  • Extra work: if we find something during the service that was not part of the agreement, we call you first. We only do extra work with your approval.
  • Free APK: if you have the APK for your Chevrolet done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your Chevrolet stay valid?

Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
