The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Mazda costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Mazda in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Mazda inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Mazda against the legal APK requirements. You know in advance what the inspection costs.

The CX-5 and the Mazda2 are the most common Mazda models in the Netherlands. We know the Skyactiv engines well. On older Mazda models, we pay extra attention to the brake hoses, the exhaust and rust.

What do we check during the APK for your Mazda?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a Mazda, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • Brake hoses and exhaust on the Mazda5: according to RDW APK data processed by Autozine, inspectors often found a damaged brake hose on the Mazda5 from 2010 up to and including 2013. That is a serious defect. Leaking exhausts were also found. We pay extra attention to this on every Mazda5.
  • Skyactiv-D diesel: on the 2.2 diesel engine in the Mazda6 and CX-5, the oil level can rise. This is because diesel can get into the oil when the DPF burns itself clean. Have the car serviced on time and check the oil level regularly. With a factory-fitted DPF, the particle counter test is part of the APK.
  • Mazda2 Hybrid: technically, the Mazda2 Hybrid is a Toyota Yaris Hybrid. For the APK it counts as a petrol hybrid. The APK costs € 50 and the petrol engine gets an emissions test.
  • Plug-in hybrid and electric: on the CX-60 plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine gets an emissions test. The electric MX-30 and the Mazda6e do not get an emissions test. On the MX-30 R-EV, the petrol engine does get an emissions test. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.
  • Tyres and wipers: according to the same APK data, tyres and wipers often fail on the Mazda5. Check the tread depth and the wiper blades yourself before the APK.

Servicing your Mazda with us

We service your Mazda according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with oil that meets the specified standard. On a Skyactiv-D diesel, we pay extra attention to the oil level. You do not need to go to the dealer for servicing.

  • Following the Mazda schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Hybrid and electric Mazda models

The Mazda2 Hybrid, the CX-60 plug-in hybrid and the electric MX-30 and Mazda6e can all come to us for the APK and servicing. An electric Mazda does not get an emissions test. On a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine does get an emissions test.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).
