The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your Polestar gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your Polestar is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.

The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.

The APK (MOT) can be done in the same visit. You drop off your Polestar Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your Polestar serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your Polestar to the manufacturer’s specifications, with parts that suit your car.

Polestar grew out of Volvo. The Polestar 2 and 3 use a lot of Volvo technology, and we know it well. An electric car needs less maintenance, but the brakes, tyres and suspension work hard because of the car’s weight.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your Polestar?

For the Polestar 2, 3 and 4, Polestar specifies a service every 30,000 kilometres or every 24 months, whichever comes first. The car shows on its display when the service is due. According to Polestar, each service must take place within one month or 1,250 kilometres of that point.

An electric Polestar has no engine oil, spark plugs or timing belt. A service usually covers consumables and wear parts, such as wiper blades, brake discs and brake pads. Wheel alignment and balancing are part of the maintenance too. What your car needs depends on its age and mileage.

We use your registration number to look up which service your Polestar needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.

Minor or major service for your Polestar?

Which service your car needs depends on the model, the engine, the age and the mileage. A minor and a major service usually include the following:

Part Minor service Major service
Brakes and brake fluid Check Thorough check, change the brake fluid if the schedule requires it
Tyres Measure tread depth and pressure Swap or replace if needed
Cabin filter Check Replace according to the schedule
Coolant Check Change if the schedule requires it
12-volt battery Check Test with a battery tester
Suspension and steering Check Thorough check
Wipers and lights Check Check and replace if needed
APK Book separately Can be done in the same visit

Common Polestar models and what we check during a service

These Polestar models are the most common in the Netherlands, according to RDW open data. We can service all of these models.

Model Number in the Netherlands What we check during a service
Polestar 2 14,901 Electric: brakes, brake fluid, tyres, wheel alignment and cabin filter. A service every 30,000 kilometres or 24 months.
Polestar 4 2,025 Electric: brakes, tyres and suspension according to the service book. A heavy car, so we pay extra attention to tyre wear.
Polestar 3 460 Large electric SUV with Volvo technology: brakes, tyres, suspension and battery cooling.
Polestar 1 34 Plug-in hybrid with a petrol engine: oil, filters and spark plugs according to the schedule, and the brakes.

What do we check when servicing your Polestar?

At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your Polestar, we also pay extra attention to these points:

  • Brakes: a Polestar does a lot of its braking with the electric motor. This means the brake discs get little use and can rust. At the service we clean and check the brakes. We replace the brake fluid according to the schedule.
  • Tyres and alignment: a Polestar is heavy and accelerates quickly. This makes the tyres wear faster than on a petrol car. We measure the tread depth and check that the wheels are correctly aligned.
  • Service on time: Polestar asks for each service to be carried out within one month or 1,250 kilometres of the point when it is due. So call in good time to book an appointment.
  • 12-volt battery: an electric car also has a small 12-volt battery for the electronics. If it is flat, the car will not start. We test it at the service.
  • Volvo technology: the Polestar 2 is built on the same platform as the Volvo XC40 Recharge (now the EX40). This means Volvo parts and know-how are readily available.

Servicing your electric Polestar

The Polestar 2, 3 and 4 are fully electric. At the service we check the battery cooling, the brakes, the tyres, the suspension and the cabin filter. If you leave the car unused for a long time, follow the owner’s manual for parking and battery care. The Polestar 1 is a plug-in hybrid. Its petrol engine gets oil and filters according to the schedule.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they are trained to work safely on the high-voltage systems of hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

How much does a service for your Polestar cost?

The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.

  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give your registration number and mileage. We tell you straight away what the service costs, including VAT.
  • You can also drop in: visit our workshop at Boterdiep 11. We look at your Polestar and tell you on the spot what the service costs.
  • Extra work: if we find something during the service that was not part of the agreement, we call you first. We only do extra work with your approval.
  • APK at the same time: the APK for your Polestar can be done in the same visit.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your Polestar stay valid?

Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
