The short answer
At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your BMW gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your BMW is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.
The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.
If you combine a major service with the APK (MOT), the inspection is free. You drop off your BMW Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your BMW serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?
We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your BMW to the manufacturer’s specification, with parts and oil that suit your car.
A BMW keeps track of the servicing it needs. We read those messages and carry out the work according to the BMW schedule. We know the BMW petrol and diesel engines, the automatic gearbox, the run-flat tyres and the plug-in hybrids.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your BMW?
BMW uses Condition Based Service (CBS). This means servicing based on the condition of the car. The car works out for itself when something is due. It looks at time, mileage and the way you drive. Lots of short trips, cold starts and city traffic shorten the interval. So there is no fixed mileage that applies to every BMW.
On the dashboard or in the menu, you can see when each item is due. These include the engine oil, the front and rear brake pads, the brake fluid and the vehicle check. We carry out the work for the messages that are open.
BMW approves engine oil with a Longlife standard, such as Longlife-01, Longlife-04 or Longlife-17 FE+. Which standard you need depends on the engine and the year of manufacture. For example, a diesel with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) needs a different oil from an older petrol engine without one. We look up the right standard with your registration number.
We use your registration number to look up which service your BMW needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.
Minor or major service for your BMW?
Which service your car needs depends on the model, the engine, the age and the mileage. A minor and a major service usually include the following:
| Part | Minor service | Major service |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil and oil filter | Change and replace | Change and replace |
| Fluids | Check and top up if needed | Check, change the brake fluid if the schedule requires it |
| Brakes and tyres | Check for wear | Thorough check, including brake discs and brake pads |
| Filters | Check | Replace the air filter and cabin filter according to the schedule |
| Spark plugs (petrol) | Not standard | Replace at the manufacturer’s interval |
| Battery | Check | Test with a battery tester |
| Timing belt (if the engine has one) | Not standard | Check whether the belt is due for replacement at the set interval |
| APK | Book separately | Free if you combine it with a major service |

What do we check when servicing your BMW?
At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your BMW, we also pay extra attention to these points:
Also read about brake replacement (in Dutch) and reading fault codes (in Dutch).
Servicing your hybrid or electric BMW
An electric BMW, such as the iX1 or iX3, has no engine oil, spark plugs or timing chain. CBS does show when the brake fluid, the cabin filter and the vehicle check are due. On a plug-in hybrid, such as the 330e, X1 xDrive25e or X5 xDrive45e, the petrol engine gets oil and filters according to the schedule. Because these cars mostly use the electric motor to brake, the brake discs can rust.
Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they are trained to work safely on the high-voltage systems of hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).
How much does a service for your BMW cost?
The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.
Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your BMW stay valid?
Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
