The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Citroën costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Citroën in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Citroën inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Citroën against the legal APK requirements. You know in advance what the inspection costs.

Many Citroën models have the 1.2 PureTech engine with a wet timing belt. We have a lot of experience with it. On the C1, we first look up which engine it has, because that makes a big difference to the servicing.

What do we check during the APK for your Citroën?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a Citroën, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • 1.2 PureTech engine: the C3, C4 Cactus, C3 Aircross, C5 Aircross and other models often have the 1.2 PureTech with a wet timing belt. Read more about problems with PureTech engines (in Dutch).
  • Belt or chain on the C1: the C1 with the 1.0 engine has a timing chain. The C1 with the 82 hp 1.2 engine has a wet belt. We can look it up with your registration number.
  • Manufacturer’s scheme: according to Autoreview, the Stellantis PureTech scheme also covers Citroën. Under certain conditions, the scheme applies for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres and is handled by an official dealer. A repair carried out by us is not covered by it.
  • Older Citroën models: on older models such as the Xsara Picasso and C4 Picasso, we pay extra attention to rust, brake pipes and the exhaust.

Servicing your Citroën with us

We service your Citroën according to the manufacturer’s schedule. We use oil that meets the specified standard. On the 1.2 PureTech this is extra important, because the right oil protects the wet timing belt.

  • Following the Citroën schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Read more about the service (in Dutch) and the major service (in Dutch). You can also read about replacing the wet timing belt (in Dutch) and flushing the automatic gearbox on Opel, Peugeot and Citroën (in Dutch).

Electric Citroën

The electric ë-C4 and ë-C3 can both come to us for the APK and servicing. An electric car does not get an emissions test. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Citroën Berlingo, Jumpy and Jumper

Diesel or diesel hybrid with a factory-fitted DPF € 60, including the compulsory particle counter test

Frequently asked questions about the APK for your Citroën

No need to click. All the answers are already open below.

Does my Citroën have a wet timing belt?

Yes. If your Citroën has a 1.2 PureTech petrol engine, it has a wet belt. This is the case for many models, such as the C3, C4 Cactus, C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross. The C1 with the 1.0 engine has a chain. The C1 with the 82 hp 1.2 engine has a wet belt. We can look it up with your registration number.

Does the PureTech scheme also apply to Citroën?

Yes. According to Autoreview it does. Under certain conditions, Stellantis covers the costs of early timing belt wear, for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres. This is handled by an approved repairer for the brand. A repair carried out by us is not covered by the scheme.

How much does it cost to replace the wet timing belt on a Citroën?

We charge € 995, € 1,095 or € 1,250, depending on the model. This includes the timing belt kit, gaskets, new oil, the oil filter and cleaning the oil strainer. The water pump is not included.

How much does an APK for my Citroën cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol Citroën, a petrol hybrid or an electric Citroën, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The APK for a Citroën van with a grey number plate costs € 125. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Citroën?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Citroën fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Citroën failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.
