The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Nissan costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Nissan in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Nissan inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Nissan against the legal APK requirements. You know in advance what the inspection costs.

The Qashqai is by far the most common Nissan in the Netherlands. We know its weak points: the CVT automatic gearbox and, on the 1.2 DIG-T, oil consumption. On a Leaf, we pay attention to the tyres and brakes.

What do we check during the APK for your Nissan?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a Nissan, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • CVT automatic gearbox: according to Autoreview, the CVT automatic in the Qashqai from 2014 to 2021 can suffer from failed bearings or a loss of oil pressure. The car then judders when pulling away or makes a whining noise. Have this checked in good time. Read more about flushing the Qashqai automatic gearbox (in Dutch).
  • 1.2 DIG-T petrol engine: according to Autoreview, some owners of a Qashqai with the 1.2 DIG-T report high oil consumption or a loss of power. The variable valve timing unit can also seize. This part controls when the engine valves open. The engine then runs poorly. Check the oil level regularly.
  • Cooling fan and key: on the Qashqai, the cooling fan can keep running. A new relay (an electrical switch) usually solves this. Up to the end of 2016, the Qashqai sometimes did not recognise the key if the car battery was flat or had been disconnected.
  • Leaf: the Leaf battery has no liquid cooling. According to Autoblog, the condition of the battery is therefore an important thing to check on an older Leaf. The APK does not test the battery, but it does test the brakes and tyres. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.
  • Diesel with a DPF: on a Qashqai or X-Trail with a diesel engine and a factory-fitted DPF (diesel particulate filter), the particle counter test is part of the APK. According to Autoreview, there are no known recurring problems with the 1.5 dCi.

Servicing your Nissan with us

We service your Nissan according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with oil and parts that suit your car. If you have a CVT gearbox, we advise you on changing the oil. You do not need to go to the dealer for servicing.

  • Following the Nissan schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Read more about servicing your Nissan, car servicing for all makes and the major service (in Dutch). You can also read more about flushing a CVT gearbox (in Dutch).

Nissan Leaf and Ariya

We can do the APK and servicing on the electric Leaf and Ariya. An electric car does not get an emissions test. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Nissan vans

Do you drive a Nissan NV200, e-NV200, Primastar, Townstar or Interstar with a grey number plate? Then the APK for vans applies: € 125. Read more about the APK for a van.

Petrol, petrol hybrid or electric € 50
Diesel or diesel hybrid with a factory-fitted DPF € 60, including the compulsory particle counter test

Frequently asked questions about the APK for your Nissan

No need to click. All the answers are already open below.

My Qashqai judders when pulling away. What could it be?

On a Qashqai with a CVT automatic, this can be caused by worn bearings, low oil pressure or old oil. We first find out what the cause is. Sometimes changing the oil helps. We tell you the cost in advance.

Do you also inspect the electric Leaf?

Yes. The APK for an electric Nissan costs € 50. There is no emissions test. The APK does not test the battery. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension.

My Qashqai with the 1.2 DIG-T uses a lot of oil. Is that normal?

No. A little oil consumption is normal, but a lot is not. It does happen more often with this engine. Check the oil level regularly and top it up when needed. During a service, we can measure how much oil the engine uses.

How much does an APK for my Nissan cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol Nissan, a petrol hybrid or an electric Nissan, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The APK for a Nissan van with a grey number plate costs € 125. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Nissan?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Nissan fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Nissan failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.
