The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Opel costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Opel in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Opel inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Opel against the legal APK requirements. You know the cost of the inspection in advance.

Many newer Opel models have the same 1.2 Turbo engine as Peugeot and Citroën: the PureTech engine with a wet timing belt (belt-in-oil). We have a lot of experience with it. During the APK we check whether the engine is losing oil. You also get advice about the belt.

What do we check during the APK for your Opel?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On an Opel, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • 1.2 Turbo engine (PureTech): the Corsa from 2019, the Crossland, the Grandland and the new Mokka often have the Stellantis 1.2 petrol engine. It has a wet timing belt that wears too quickly on some versions. Read more about problems with PureTech engines (in Dutch).
  • Manufacturer’s scheme: according to Autoreview, the Stellantis PureTech scheme also covers Opel. Under certain conditions, the scheme applies for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres and is handled by an official dealer. A repair carried out by us is not covered by it.
  • Oil consumption and engine warning light: high oil consumption or an engine warning light that stays on can point to a problem with the belt. If so, have the fault codes read in good time.
  • Older Opel models: on older models such as the Meriva, Zafira and Agila, we pay extra attention to rust on load-bearing parts, brake pipes and the exhaust.
  • Electric: the Corsa-e does not get an emissions test. Because of the weight, the tyres wear faster. The car mainly uses the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.

Servicing your Opel with us

We service your Opel according to the manufacturer’s schedule. We use oil that meets the specified standard. On the 1.2 petrol engine this is extra important, because the right oil protects the wet timing belt.

  • Following the Opel schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Read more about the service (in Dutch) and the major service (in Dutch). Also read about replacing the wet timing belt (in Dutch) and flushing the automatic gearbox on Opel, Peugeot and Citroën (in Dutch).

Electric Opel

The Corsa-e and the electric Mokka can both come to us for the APK and servicing. An electric car does not get an emissions test. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension, because an electric car is heavier.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Opel vans

Do you drive an Opel Combo, Vivaro or Movano with a grey number plate? Then the APK for vans applies: € 125. We have vehicle lifts suitable for commercial vehicles up to 3,500 kg. Read more about the APK for a van.

How much does the APK for your Opel cost?

Petrol, petrol hybrid or electric € 50
Diesel or diesel hybrid with a factory-fitted DPF € 60, including the compulsory particle counter test
Van (grey number plate) € 125. Read more about the APK for a van.

Frequently asked questions about the APK for your Opel

No need to click. All the answers are already open below.

Does my Opel have a PureTech engine?

Yes. If your Opel has a 1.2 petrol engine from about 2017 or later, it is a PureTech engine. That applies to the Crossland, the Grandland, the Corsa from 2019 and the new Mokka. Opel calls the engine the 1.2 Turbo. We can look it up for you with your registration number.

Does the PureTech scheme also apply to Opel?

Yes. According to Autoreview it does. Under certain conditions, Stellantis covers the costs of early timing belt wear, for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres. This is handled by an approved repairer for the brand. A repair carried out by us is not covered by the scheme.

Do you also inspect the electric Corsa-e?

Yes. The APK for an electric Opel costs € 50. There is no emissions test. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension.

How much does an APK for my Opel cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol Opel, a petrol hybrid or an electric Opel, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The APK for an Opel van with a grey number plate costs € 125. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Opel?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Opel fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Opel failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.
