The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your Renault gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your Renault is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.

The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.

If you combine a major service with the APK (MOT), the inspection is free. You drop off your Renault Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your Renault serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your Renault to the manufacturer’s specifications, with parts and oil that suit your car.

There are lots of Clios, Twingos and Capturs on the road in Rotterdam. We know the TCe petrol engines, the dCi diesels, the EDC dual-clutch automatic and the E-Tech hybrid. On the 1.2 TCe from 2012 to 2016, we check the oil consumption at every service.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your Renault?

Renault sets a service interval for each engine: after a number of kilometres or after a set time, whichever comes first. On newer Renaults, the dashboard shows when the next service is due.

The engine oil must meet a Renault specification. For many older engines, that is RN0700 or RN0710. Older diesels with a diesel particulate filter (DPF) usually need RN0720. Newer engines often use RN17. We use your registration number to look up which specification your engine needs.

We use your registration number to look up which service your Renault needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.

Minor or major service for your Renault?

Which service your car needs depends on the model, the engine, the age and the mileage. A minor and a major service usually include the following:

Part Minor service Major service
Engine oil and oil filter Change and replace Change and replace
Fluids Check and top up if needed Check, change the brake fluid if the schedule requires it
Brakes and tyres Check for wear Thorough check, including brake discs and brake pads
Filters Check Replace the air filter and cabin filter according to the schedule
Spark plugs (petrol) Not standard Replace at the manufacturer’s interval
Battery Check Test with a battery tester
Timing belt (if the engine has one) Not standard Check whether the belt is due for replacement at the set interval
APK Book separately Free if you combine it with a major service

What do we check when servicing your Renault?

At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your Renault, we also pay extra attention to these points:

  • Oil consumption on the 1.2 TCe: according to Autoblog, about 400,000 cars with the 1.2 TCe petrol engine from 2012 to 2016 had high oil consumption, including the Clio and Captur. We measure the oil level at the service. Please check it yourself between services too.
  • Oil to Renault specification: Renault specifies an oil type for each engine, with a code such as RN0700, RN0710, RN0720 or RN17. A newer specification does not automatically replace an older one. We use the oil that belongs with your engine.
  • EDC automatic: the EDC is a dual-clutch automatic. If it judders when pulling away or changes gear slowly, mention it at the service.
  • Diesel with DPF and AdBlue: on a dCi with a DPF, we check the filter. On the newer Blue dCi, the AdBlue system is part of the check too. Lots of short trips can make the DPF fill up faster.
  • E-Tech hybrid: on the Clio, Captur and Austral E-Tech, the petrol engine gets oil and filters according to the schedule. The car does a lot of its braking with the electric motor. This can make the brake discs rust.

Read how often to have the oil changed (in Dutch). If you drive a Kangoo, Trafic or Master with a grey number plate, read about the APK for a van up to 3,500 kg.

Servicing a Renault E-Tech or Zoe

The Clio, Captur and Austral E-Tech have a petrol engine that gets oil, filters and spark plugs according to the Renault schedule. The electric Zoe and Mégane E-Tech Electric have no engine oil, spark plugs or timing belt. On these cars, servicing covers brakes, brake fluid, tyres, suspension and the cabin filter.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they are trained to work safely on the high-voltage systems of hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

How much does a service for your Renault cost?

The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.

  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give your registration number and mileage. We tell you straight away what the service costs, including VAT.
  • You can also drop in: visit our workshop at Boterdiep 11. We look at your Renault and tell you on the spot what the service costs.
  • Extra work: if we find something during the service that was not part of the agreement, we call you first. We only do extra work with your approval.
  • Free APK: have the APK for your Renault done together with a major service and you pay nothing for the inspection.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your Renault stay valid?

Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.

Frequently asked questions about servicing your Renault

No need to click: all the answers below are already open for you.

My Renault uses a lot of oil. Is that normal?

No. High oil consumption is not normal. It was more common on the 1.2 TCe petrol engine from 2012 to 2016, including the Clio and Captur. At the service we measure how much oil the engine uses. Please check the oil level yourself regularly too.

Which oil goes in my Renault?

Your engine gets oil with the Renault specification that applies to it, such as RN0700, RN0710, RN0720 or RN17. We use your registration number to look up which specification and viscosity your engine needs.

Do you also service the electric Zoe?

Yes. A Zoe has no engine oil. We service the brakes, brake fluid, tyres, suspension and cabin filter according to the Renault schedule.

How much does a service for my Renault cost?

It depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs, including VAT. You can also visit our workshop. If you combine a major service with the APK, the inspection is free.

Will my manufacturer’s warranty be void if you service my Renault?

No. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. You receive an invoice listing all the work.

Can I wait while you do the service?

No. You drop off your Renault Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. A minor service is often ready within a few hours. We call you when the car is ready.
