The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your Citroën gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your Citroën is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.

The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.

If you combine a major service with the APK (MOT), the inspection is free. You drop off your Citroën Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your Citroën serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your Citroën to the manufacturer’s specifications, with parts and oil that suit your car.

Many Citroëns have the 1.2 PureTech petrol engine with a wet timing belt. On this engine, good maintenance largely decides how long the belt lasts. We know this engine well, as well as the Citroën BlueHDi diesels and automatic gearboxes.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your Citroën?

Citroën sets a service interval in time and kilometres for each model and engine. What needs doing at each service is listed in the service book or the digital service record. The service indicator on the dashboard shows when the next service is due.

On the 1.2 PureTech, the right oil matters even more. Here the timing belt runs in the engine oil. Oil of the wrong standard, or oil left in the engine too long, can make the belt wear faster. We use oil that meets the standard Citroën specifies for your engine. On this engine, we advise changing the oil no later than the schedule says.

We use your registration number to look up which service your Citroën needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.

Minor or major service for your Citroën?

Which service your car needs depends on the model, the engine, the age and the mileage. A minor and a major service usually include the following:

Part Minor service Major service
Engine oil and oil filter Change and replace Change and replace
Fluids Check and top up if needed Check, change the brake fluid if the schedule requires it
Brakes and tyres Check for wear Thorough check, including brake discs and brake pads
Filters Check Replace the air filter and cabin filter according to the schedule
Spark plugs (petrol) Not standard Replace at the manufacturer’s interval
Battery Check Test with a battery tester
Timing belt (if the engine has one) Not standard Check whether the belt is due for replacement at the set interval
APK Book separately Free if you combine it with a major service

Common Citroën models and what we check during a service

These Citroën models are the most common in the Netherlands, according to RDW open data. We can service all of these models.

Model Number in the Netherlands What we check during a service
C1 113,719 The 1.0 has a timing chain, the 1.2 (82 hp) a wet belt. On an automated manual gearbox, we check the gear changes.
C3 75,686 On the 1.2 PureTech: oil to the correct standard and the condition of the wet timing belt.
C4 Picasso 19,747 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. On an older Picasso with an automated manual gearbox, we check the gear changes.
C4 Cactus 17,684 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. On a BlueHDi diesel: the AdBlue system and the diesel particulate filter (DPF).
C3 Aircross 14,756 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. On an automatic, we check how it changes gear.
Berlingo 12,706 Often used for business. Oil, brakes, tyres and, on a BlueHDi, the AdBlue system. With a grey number plate, it counts as a van up to 3,500 kg.
C4 12,121 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. On an automatic, we check how it changes gear.
C5 Aircross 11,283 On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt. On the plug-in hybrid, also the brakes, which get little use.
DS3 8,647 Older Citroën DS3: oil, brakes, suspension and leaks. On the 1.2 PureTech: the wet timing belt.
Xsara Picasso 7,464 Older car: oil, brakes, suspension, leaks and rust.

What do we check when servicing your Citroën?

At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your Citroën, we also pay extra attention to these points:

  • Wet timing belt on the 1.2 PureTech: the belt runs in the engine oil. Over time it can wear and shed small pieces of rubber. These can block the oil strainer. At the service we check the oil, the oil level and any oil pressure warnings.
  • Brake servo: a worn belt can also affect the brake servo. A recall was issued for this on some 1.2 PureTech engines from 2013 to 2017. If the brake pedal feels heavy, have it checked straight away.
  • Stellantis scheme: for the 1.0 and 1.2 PureTech, an extended warranty of up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres applies under certain conditions. Diagnosis and repair under the scheme are done by an authorised dealer. A repair at our garage is not covered. If your car may qualify, we will tell you beforehand.
  • Belt or chain on the C1: the C1 with the 1.0 engine has a timing chain. The C1 with the 82 hp 1.2 engine has a wet belt. We look it up using your registration number.
  • Diesel with AdBlue and DPF: the BlueHDi diesels have an AdBlue system and a DPF. At the service we read any fault codes. Some older HDi diesels with a DPF have a separate tank with an additive fluid for the filter. We top it up according to the schedule.
  • Automatic gearbox: Citroën uses several automatic gearboxes, such as the EAT6 and EAT8, and an automated manual in older models. We use your registration number to find out which gearbox your car has and whether it needs fresh oil.

Servicing an electric or plug-in hybrid Citroën

An electric ë-C4, ë-C3 or ë-Berlingo has no engine oil, spark plugs or timing belt. It still needs maintenance: brakes, brake fluid, tyres, suspension, cabin filter and battery cooling, following the Citroën schedule. On the C5 Aircross plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine gets oil and filters according to the schedule.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they are trained to work safely on the high-voltage systems of hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

How much does a service for your Citroën cost?

The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.

  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give your registration number and mileage. We tell you straight away what the service costs, including VAT.
  • You can also drop in: visit our workshop at Boterdiep 11. We look at your Citroën and tell you on the spot what the service costs.
  • Extra work: if we find something during the service that was not part of the agreement, we call you first. We only do extra work with your approval.
  • Free APK: have the APK for your Citroën done together with a major service and you pay nothing for the inspection.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your Citroën stay valid?

Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.

Frequently asked questions about servicing your Citroën

No need to click: all the answers below are already open for you.

Which Citroën models have a wet timing belt (belt-in-oil)?

Citroëns with the 1.2 PureTech petrol engine have a wet timing belt, a belt that runs in the engine oil. That engine is fitted to many models, such as the C3, C4 Cactus, C3 Aircross and C5 Aircross. The C1 with the 1.0 engine has a chain. We look it up using your registration number.

Which oil does a 1.2 PureTech need?

Oil that meets the standard Citroën specifies for your engine. On this engine that matters even more, because the timing belt runs in the oil. We change the oil on time and check the oil level at every service.

Does the PureTech scheme also apply to Citroën?

Yes. According to Autoreview, the Stellantis scheme also covers Citroën, under certain conditions for up to 10 years or 180,000 kilometres. Diagnosis and repair under the scheme are done by an authorised dealer. A repair at our garage is not covered by the scheme.

How much does a service for my Citroën cost?

It depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs, including VAT. You can also visit our workshop. If you combine a major service with the APK, the inspection is free.

Will my manufacturer’s warranty be void if you service my Citroën?

No. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. You receive an invoice listing all the work.

Can I wait while you do the service?

No. You drop off your Citroën Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. A minor service is often ready within a few hours. We call you when the car is ready.

Where is your workshop, and can I come to you from outside Rotterdam?
