The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your MG costs € 50, whether it runs on petrol, is a hybrid or is electric. The price includes VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your MG in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

What do we check during the APK for your MG?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On an MG, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • Electric MG models: the ZS EV, MG4 and MG5 do not get an emissions test. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust. Because of the weight, the tyres wear faster.
  • Hybrid and plug-in hybrid: on the MG3 Hybrid+, ZS Hybrid+ and EHS, the petrol engine gets an emissions test. The APK costs € 50.
  • Classic MG models: on an MGB, Midget or older MG, we pay extra attention to rust on the floor and sills, the brake pipes and the exhaust. We know that different rules apply to a classic car, for example for emissions.
  • MGF and TF: we check the cooling system, the suspension and rust on load-bearing parts.

Servicing your MG with us

We service your MG according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with parts that suit your car. According to Autorai, a new MG comes with a manufacturer’s warranty of seven years or 150,000 kilometres. You do not need to go to the dealer for servicing.

  • Following the MG schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Electric and hybrid MG models

The electric ZS EV, MG4, MG5 and Marvel R, the hybrid MG3 and ZS Hybrid+ and the plug-in hybrid EHS can all come to us for the APK and servicing. An electric MG does not get an emissions test. On a hybrid or plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine does get an emissions test.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Do you also inspect a classic MGB or Midget?

Yes. We also inspect classic MG cars with a Dutch number plate. We pay extra attention to rust on the floor and sills, the brake pipes and the exhaust. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Will I lose my MG warranty if you service my car?

No. Having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end the manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the MG schedule and uses suitable parts. Keep the invoice for every service.

Do you also inspect the electric ZS EV and MG4?

Yes. The APK for an electric MG costs € 50. There is no emissions test. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension.

How much does an APK for my MG cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for an MG costs € 50, whether it runs on petrol, is a hybrid or is electric. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my MG?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my MG fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your MG failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.

Where are you based and where do your customers come from?

Our workshop is at Boterdiep 11 in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, close to Stadion Feijenoord (De Kuip). Our customers come from all over Rotterdam, including Centrum, Kralingen-Crooswijk, Hillegersberg-Schiebroek, Delfshaven and IJsselmonde, and from Barendrecht, Ridderkerk, Schiedam, Capelle aan den IJssel and Delft. You can park for free in front of the garage if there is space.
