The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, your Seat gets a minor or major service according to the manufacturer’s service schedule. If your Seat is still under the manufacturer’s warranty, the warranty stays valid as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule, even if you do not go to the dealer.

The price depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs. You can also visit our workshop.

If you combine a major service with the APK (MOT), the inspection is free. You drop off your Seat Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. If extra work is needed, we call you first.

Why have your Seat serviced at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. We service your Seat to the manufacturer’s specification, with parts and oil that suit your car.

Seat is part of the Volkswagen Group. A Seat has the same TSI and TDI engines and the same DSG automatic gearbox (a dual-clutch automatic) as a Volkswagen or Skoda. We know this technology well, including the timing chain on older TSI engines and the 4Drive all-wheel drive.

What servicing does the manufacturer specify for your Seat?

Seat has two types of servicing. With flexible servicing (LongLife), the car decides for itself when the oil needs changing. This depends on how you drive. With fixed servicing, the car gets a service after a set number of kilometres or after a year, whichever comes first.

For both types of servicing, Seat specifies oil that meets a VW specification. Flexible servicing needs special LongLife oil. You can see which plan your Seat has in the service book or on the service indicator. We stick to that plan.

We use your registration number to look up which service your Seat needs and, where possible, we read the service indicator. After the service, we reset the service reminder, if our equipment can do this.

Minor or major service for your Seat?

Which service your car needs depends on the model, the engine, the age and the mileage. A minor and a major service usually include the following:

Part Minor service Major service
Engine oil and oil filter Change and replace Change and replace
Fluids Check and top up if needed Check, change the brake fluid if the schedule requires it
Brakes and tyres Check for wear Thorough check, including brake discs and brake pads
Filters Check Replace the air filter and cabin filter according to the schedule
Spark plugs (petrol) Not standard Replace at the manufacturer’s interval
Battery Check Test with a battery tester
Timing belt (if the engine has one) Not standard Check whether the belt is due for replacement at the set interval
APK Book separately Free if you combine it with a major service

Common Seat models and what we check during a service

These Seat models are the most common in the Netherlands, according to RDW open data. We can service all of these models.

Model Number in the Netherlands What we check during a service

Leon 62,424 Oil to VW specification and DSG servicing where the schedule requires it. On the e-Hybrid, the brake discs can rust because they get little use.
Mii 20,606 Small city car with VW Up technology: oil, brakes and tyres. The Mii Electric has no engine oil.
Arona 17,835 Oil to VW specification, and brakes. On a DSG automatic, we check how it shifts.
Ateca 15,817 Oil to VW specification, DSG servicing and, with 4Drive, the Haldex coupling oil according to the schedule.
Altea 12,961 Older car: oil, brakes, suspension and rust on load-bearing parts. On a 1.4 TSI, also the timing chain.

What do we check when servicing your Seat?

At every service we follow the manufacturer’s schedule. For your Seat, we also pay extra attention to these points:

  • Oil to VW specification: Seat specifies a type of oil for each engine and each service plan. We use that oil. With the wrong oil, flexible servicing does not work properly.
  • Timing chain on the older 1.2 and 1.4 TSI: the 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI from about 2007 up to and including 2012 have a timing chain. According to Autohled, it can start to rattle when the chain tensioner is worn, often between 60,000 and 100,000 kilometres. If you hear a rattling noise on a cold start, mention it when you bring the car in for its service.
  • Timing belt on newer engines: most newer TSI and TDI engines have a timing belt. The interval differs from engine to engine. We look it up and tell you in advance when the belt is due.
  • DSG automatic gearbox: the wet six-speed or seven-speed DSG needs new oil and a new filter at set intervals. The dry seven-speed DSG (DQ200) does not. That gearbox did have problems with jerking when pulling away. We use your registration number to look up which gearbox your Seat has.
  • 4Drive all-wheel drive: on the Ateca, Tarraco and Alhambra with 4Drive, a Haldex coupling splits the power between the wheels. This coupling gets new oil according to the schedule. We check whether it is due.

Servicing your hybrid or electric Seat

The Leon e-Hybrid is a plug-in hybrid. The petrol engine gets oil, filters and spark plugs according to the Seat schedule. Because the car often brakes using the electric motor, the brake discs can start to rust. We clean and check the brakes. The Mii Electric has no engine oil, but its brakes, brake fluid, tyres and cabin filter still need servicing.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they are trained to work safely on the high-voltage systems of hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

How much does a service for your Seat cost?

The price of a service differs from car to car. The model, the engine, the specified oil and the mileage determine what needs to be done and which parts are needed. That is why we do not give an amount on this page.

  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give your registration number and mileage. We tell you straight away what the service costs, including VAT.
  • You can also drop in: visit our workshop at Boterdiep 11. We look at your Seat and tell you on the spot what the service costs.
  • Extra work: if we find something during the service that was not part of the agreement, we call you first. We only do extra work with your approval.
  • Free APK: if you have the APK for your Seat done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.

Does the manufacturer’s warranty on your Seat stay valid?

Yes. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. This follows from the European rules for the motor industry. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. We record the service in our system and, if you have a service book, in that too. You receive an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.

Frequently asked questions about servicing your Seat

No need to click: all the answers below are already open for you.

What is the difference between flexible and fixed servicing on a Seat?

With flexible servicing (LongLife), the car decides for itself when the oil needs changing. With fixed servicing, the car gets a service after a set number of kilometres or after a year. Both need oil that meets a VW specification. We follow the plan for your car.

Does the DSG gearbox in my Seat need servicing too?

Yes. This applies to the wet six-speed or seven-speed DSG. It needs new oil and a new filter at set intervals. The dry seven-speed DSG (DQ200) has no scheduled oil change. We use your registration number to look up which gearbox your car has.

How much does a service for my Seat cost?

It depends on the model, the engine and the mileage. Call +31 10 479 00 00 with your registration number and mileage, and we will tell you in advance what the service costs, including VAT. You can also visit our workshop. If you combine a major service with the APK, the inspection is free.

Will my manufacturer’s warranty be void if you service my Seat?

No. Having your car serviced at an independent garage does not void your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the servicing follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts and oil. Extra warranties or mobility services from the brand may be linked to servicing at a dealer. You receive an invoice listing all the work.

Can I wait while you do the service?

No. You drop off your Seat Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am, or on Saturday at 9.00 am. A minor service is often ready within a few hours. We call you when the car is ready.
