The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Audi costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Audi in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Audi inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Audi against the legal APK requirements. You know the cost of the inspection in advance.

An Audi uses Volkswagen Group technology, which we know well. On older TFSI engines we look out for oil consumption, and on the S tronic automatic gearbox for problems with gear changes. An Audi shows a message on the dashboard when it is due for a service. We follow that message and the Audi schedule.

What do we check during the APK for your Audi?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On an Audi, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • Oil consumption on the 1.8 and 2.0 TFSI: according to Auto Świat, these engines from about 2008 to 2013 often use a lot of oil because the piston rings are too thin. This affects the A3, A4, A5 and Q5, among others. Check the oil level regularly.
  • S tronic automatic: S tronic is the name Audi uses for its dual-clutch automatic gearbox (DSG). The seven-speed version (DQ200) had problems with juddering and faults. According to Auto Bild, from late 2013 the manufacturer changed the oil on cars built from 2008 to May 2011 and from October 2012 to April 2013. Read more about flushing the automatic gearbox on Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda and Seat (in Dutch).
  • Multitronic on older A4 and A6 models: some older front-wheel-drive models have a Multitronic. This is a continuously variable automatic gearbox. Read more about flushing the Multitronic (in Dutch).
  • Tyres and dipped headlights: according to RDW APK data processed by Autozine, tyres with too little tread and wrongly adjusted dipped headlights are common reasons for an A3 to fail. Check the tread and the lights yourself beforehand.
  • Plug-in hybrid and electric: on a TFSI e, such as the A3 40 TFSI e or Q5 55 TFSI e, the petrol engine gets an emissions test. The Q4 e-tron and e-tron do not get an emissions test. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.

Servicing your Audi with us

We service your Audi according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with oil that meets the specified VW standard. On an older TFSI engine, we also check the oil consumption at every service. You do not need to go to the dealer for servicing.

  • Following the Audi schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Audi TFSI e and e-tron

Plug-in hybrids such as the A3 Sportback e-tron, A3 40 TFSI e and Q5 TFSI e, and electric models such as the Q4 e-tron and e-tron, can all come to us for the APK and servicing. A fully electric Audi does not get an emissions test. On a plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine does get an emissions test.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Frequently asked questions about the APK for your Audi

No need to click. All the answers are already open below.

My Audi uses a lot of oil. Is that normal?

No. But on the 1.8 TFSI and 2.0 TFSI from about 2008 to 2013 it is more common, because the piston rings are too thin. Check the oil level regularly and top up when needed. During a service we can measure how much oil the engine uses.

Do you also inspect an electric Audi?

Yes. The APK for an electric Audi, such as the Q4 e-tron or e-tron, costs € 50. There is no emissions test. We do pay extra attention to the tyres, brakes and suspension.

My S tronic gearbox judders when I pull away. What can I do?

Juddering when you pull away can be caused by old oil or a worn clutch. We first find out what the cause is. Sometimes an oil change helps. We tell you the cost in advance.

How much does an APK for my Audi cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol Audi, a petrol hybrid or an electric Audi, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Audi?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Audi fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Audi failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.
