The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Jeep costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Jeep in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Jeep inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Jeep against the legal APK requirements. You know in advance what the inspection costs.

Jeep is part of Stellantis, like Fiat, Peugeot and Opel. The Renegade and Compass use Fiat technology, and the Avenger uses Peugeot technology. We know that technology well. We also inspect a Wrangler or Grand Cherokee with a Dutch number plate.

What do we check during the APK for your Jeep?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a Jeep, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • 1.4 MultiAir in the Renegade and Compass: according to Carwiki, the 1.4 MultiAir from 2014 up to and including 2018 often had turbo problems and oil dilution. This is when fuel gets into the engine oil. Clean oil that meets the specified standard is important for this engine.
  • Nine-speed automatic gearbox: on a Renegade or Compass with four-wheel drive, the automatic gearbox can sometimes change gear roughly. According to Carwiki, a software update often helps.
  • Avenger with the 1.2 petrol engine: the first versions have the Stellantis 1.2 engine with a wet timing belt. This is a timing belt that runs in the engine oil. The e-Hybrid has a chain. Read more about problems with PureTech engines (in Dutch).
  • 4xe plug-in hybrid and electric: on the Renegade and Compass 4xe and the Wrangler 4xe, the petrol engine gets an emissions test. The electric Avenger does not get an emissions test. These cars mainly use the electric motor to brake, so the brake discs get little use and can rust.
  • Wrangler and classic Jeeps: on a Wrangler or CJ, we pay extra attention to the chassis, the suspension, rust and the brake pipes. On a Jeep imported from America, we also check that all the lights work and are correctly adjusted.

Servicing your Jeep with us

We service your Jeep according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with oil that meets the specified standard. On the MultiAir and the 1.2 petrol engine this is extra important. You do not need to go to the dealer for servicing.

  • Following the Jeep schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Jeep 4xe and electric Avenger

The Renegade, Compass and Wrangler 4xe and the electric Avenger can all come to us for the APK and servicing. An electric Jeep does not get an emissions test. On a plug-in hybrid, the petrol engine does get an emissions test.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Frequently asked questions about the APK for your Jeep

No need to click. All the answers are already open below.

Do you also inspect a Jeep Wrangler or Grand Cherokee?

Yes. We also inspect larger Jeeps with a Dutch number plate. We pay extra attention to the chassis, the suspension and rust. If your Jeep has a grey number plate, the APK for vans applies: € 125, up to 3,500 kg.

My Renegade with an automatic gearbox changes gear roughly. What could it be?

It is often the gearbox software. Rough gear changes are more common on a Renegade or Compass with four-wheel drive. According to Carwiki, a software update usually helps. We first find out what the cause is. We tell you the cost in advance.

Is my Compass 4xe a plug-in hybrid for the APK?

Yes. The Compass 4xe is a plug-in hybrid. The APK costs € 50 and the petrol engine gets an emissions test.

How much does an APK for my Jeep cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol Jeep, a petrol hybrid or an electric Jeep, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Jeep?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Jeep fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Jeep failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.
