The short answer

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK for your Mercedes-Benz costs € 50 for petrol, petrol hybrid and electric, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

If you combine the APK with a major service, the APK is free. You bring your Mercedes-Benz in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. If a repair is needed, we tell you the cost first.

Why have your Mercedes-Benz inspected at Autobedrijf Willemsbrug?

We are an independent garage for all makes and an RDW-approved APK station. Our qualified inspectors check your Mercedes-Benz against the legal APK requirements. You know the cost of the inspection in advance.

A Mercedes-Benz shows a message when it is due for a service, either Service A (minor service) or Service B (major service). We stick to that schedule. During the APK we pay attention to the petrol engine on plug-in hybrids and to the DPF on diesels.

What do we check during the APK for your Mercedes-Benz?

The APK is the same legal inspection for every make: brakes, tyres, steering, suspension, lights, seat belts, emissions and the vehicle identification (VIN and number plate). On a Mercedes-Benz, there are a few points we look at with extra care, or that you as the owner can keep an eye on:

  • Service A and Service B: your Mercedes-Benz shows a message when the next service is due. We carry out the service according to that schedule and reset the message where our equipment allows.
  • Automatic gearbox: many Mercedes cars have a 7G or 9G automatic gearbox. If it judders or changes gear slowly, have it checked. Read more about flushing the Mercedes automatic gearbox (in Dutch).
  • Diesel with a DPF: on a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF (diesel particulate filter), the particle counter test is part of the APK. A removed DPF means the car fails. A blocked DPF can also lead to a fail.
  • Plug-in hybrid: on a plug-in hybrid, such as the A 250 e or GLC 300 e, the petrol engine gets an emissions test. Because these cars are often driven on electric power, the brake discs can rust.

Servicing your Mercedes-Benz with us

We service your Mercedes-Benz according to the manufacturer’s schedule, with oil that meets the specified Mercedes standard. You do not need to go to the dealer for servicing.

  • Following the Mercedes-Benz schedule: we use your registration number to look up which service your car needs, and we use parts and fluids that suit your car.
  • Manufacturer’s warranty: having your car serviced by an independent garage does not automatically end your manufacturer’s warranty, as long as the work follows the manufacturer’s schedule and uses suitable parts. We record the service in our system and you get an invoice listing all the work. Keep it in a safe place.
  • Free APK with a major service: if you have the APK done at the same time as a major service, you pay nothing for the inspection.
  • Price in advance: call +31 10 479 00 00 and give us your registration number. We will tell you straight away what the service costs.

Plug-in hybrid and electric Mercedes-Benz

Plug-in hybrids such as the A 250 e, C 300 e and GLC 300 e, and the electric EQ models, can all come to us for the APK and servicing. A fully electric car does not get an emissions test. On a plug-in hybrid, the combustion engine does get an emissions test.

Our mechanics hold a GMTO certificate (the Dutch qualification for working on high-voltage systems). This means they can work safely on hybrid and electric cars. Read more about servicing hybrid and electric cars (in Dutch).

Mercedes-Benz Vito, Citan and Sprinter

Can you do Service A and Service B on my Mercedes-Benz?

Yes. We carry out the service according to the Mercedes-Benz schedule, with oil that meets the specified standard. Where our equipment allows, we reset the service message. Call us with your registration number and we will tell you the cost in advance.

Do you also inspect a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter?

Yes. Up to 3,500 kg. With a grey number plate, the APK costs € 125. If the Sprinter is a motorhome, the motorhome rate applies: € 100 to € 125.

Do you also measure the emissions on my plug-in hybrid?

Yes. On a plug-in hybrid, the combustion engine gets an emissions test. On the A 250 e and GLC 300 e, that is the petrol engine. Only a fully electric car gets no emissions test.

How much does an APK for my Mercedes-Benz cost?

At Autobedrijf Willemsbrug, an APK costs € 50 for a petrol Mercedes-Benz, a petrol hybrid or an electric Mercedes-Benz, and € 60 for a diesel with a factory-fitted DPF, including the particle counter test. The APK for a Mercedes-Benz van with a grey number plate costs € 125. With a major service, the APK is free. All prices include VAT, the inspection report and registering the result with the RDW.

Do I need to wait during the APK for my Mercedes-Benz?

No. You bring your car in Monday to Friday between 8.00 and 8.30 am and we call you when it is ready. The inspection itself usually takes 45 minutes to an hour. On Saturdays we are open for servicing and repairs, but not for the APK.

What happens if my Mercedes-Benz fails the APK?

We call you first. We tell you what the problem is, what the repair costs and whether there are any extra inspection costs. Once you approve, we repair the fault, inspect the car again and register the APK result with the RDW. If your Mercedes-Benz failed the APK somewhere else, we carry out a new APK after the repair at our normal rate.

Where are you based and where do your customers come from?

Our workshop is at Boterdiep 11 in Rotterdam-IJsselmonde, close to Stadion Feijenoord (De Kuip). Our customers come from all over Rotterdam, including Centrum, Kralingen-Crooswijk, Hillegersberg-Schiebroek, Delfshaven and IJsselmonde, and from Barendrecht, Ridderkerk, Schiedam, Capelle aan den IJssel and Delft. You can park for free in front of the garage if there is space.
