Base vehicle or living area?

A motorhome consists of two parts. The base vehicle is the van that the motorhome is built on. The living area is the part you live in, with the gas system, the water system, the 230 V installation, the fridge and the heater, among other things.

We work on the base vehicle: everything to do with driving, braking, steering and the engine. For the living area, a specialist motorhome company is the best place to go. Not sure which part your problem belongs to? Call us and we will help you think it through.

After winter storage: what should you look out for?

Standing still is sometimes harder on a motorhome than driving. After a long period standing still, we often see the same problems.

  • Battery: the starter battery slowly drains while standing still and wears out faster as a result.
  • Brakes: brake calipers and brake discs can rust or seize from standing still.
  • Tyres: tyres age even if you drive little. So check the age of the tyres too, not only the tread.
  • Timing belt: on a motorhome, the age of the belt often matters more than the mileage.
  • Air con (in Dutch): air con that has not been used for a long time can cool less well.
  • Fluids: engine oil, coolant and brake fluid also age when you drive few kilometres. Read more about oil changes (in Dutch).

So have your motorhome checked before the season. Then you know in good time if anything needs doing. Read what we check during a service and a major service (in Dutch).

Common motorhome repairs

A motorhome often drives at a weight close to its maximum permitted mass. That puts a heavy load on the brakes, tyres, suspension and clutch. We repair the following parts, among others.

  • Brakes: brake pads, brake discs and seized brake calipers.
  • Clutch and flywheel: a known weak point on many motorhomes built on a Ducato. We replace clutches in our own workshop.
  • Chassis and suspension: shock absorbers, springs and wishbones.
  • Cooling: radiator, water pump and leaks.
  • Cab heater: when the heater blows cold air. We do not work on the heating of the living area.
  • Breakdowns: if your motorhome has broken down, it gets priority during our opening hours.
  • Engine: we do timing belt replacement and internal engine work, such as a head gasket, in our own workshop.
  • Electrical: starter battery, alternator and starter motor.

Will your motorhome fit?

Our workshop has five heavy-duty lifts, including lifts for motorhomes and commercial vehicles up to 3,500 kg. Whether your motorhome fits on the lift depends on its weight, height and length.

Is your motorhome heavier than 3,500 kg? Call us first with your registration number and the dimensions, and you will hear straight away whether we can help.

Combine the repair with an APK and a service

Does your motorhome also need its APK? An APK for your motorhome costs € 100 to € 125 with us, depending on the type and the weight. We schedule the APK Monday to Friday, because those are the only days we can register the result with the RDW. With a major service, the APK is free.

You can read more on our page about the APK for motorhomes. You can also book the APK for your motorhome online. For repairs and servicing, please call us.

Frequently asked questions about motorhome repairs

Below you will find the answers to the questions we are asked most often about motorhome repairs.

Will my motorhome fit on your lift?

Yes. Our lifts are suitable for motorhomes up to 3,500 kg maximum permitted mass. Besides the weight, the height and length of your motorhome also matter. So call us in advance with your registration number and the dimensions.

Is your motorhome heavier than 3,500 kg? Call us first and you will hear straight away whether we can help.

Do you also repair the living area of my motorhome?

No. We work on the base vehicle: the engine, the brakes, the chassis, the exhaust, the vehicle’s electrical system and the cab air con. For the living area, such as the gas system, the water system, the fridge and the heater, a specialist motorhome company is the best place to go.

What should I have checked after winter storage?

Above all, have the starter battery, the brakes, the tyres and the fluids checked. They suffer most from standing still. With the tyres, look at their age too, not only the tread.

Also check when the timing belt was last replaced. On a motorhome, the age of the belt often matters more than the mileage.

When does the timing belt on my motorhome need replacing?

That depends on the engine and the manufacturer’s schedule. Many motorhomes built on a Fiat Ducato, Peugeot Boxer or Citroën Jumper have a maximum age as well as a maximum mileage. Because a motorhome often covers few kilometres, the age usually decides when the belt is due.

We look up the right interval for you using your registration number and the engine code. You can read more on our page about the timing belt on the Ducato, Boxer and Jumper.

Can I combine a repair, a service and the APK?

Yes. We plan the work in one visit, so you do not need to come in more often than necessary. With a major service, the APK is free. We carry out the APK Monday to Friday, because those are the only days we can register the result with the RDW.

Is there a warranty on the repair?

Yes. You get a warranty on our repairs. How long it lasts depends on the work and the parts. A new part, for example, has different terms from a reconditioned part or a repair to an existing part.

That is why you hear with the quote which warranty you get on the repair. That way you know where you stand before you agree.

What does a repair to my motorhome cost?

That depends on the cause, the parts and the time the repair takes. That is why we first find out what is wrong. Then you hear, by phone or in the workshop, what the agreed work costs.

We do not carry out any repair without your agreement. If more turns out to be needed during the work, we call you first.
